From 17 to 23 of October eight top-tier Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams met in Moscow to compete over $ 500,000 prize pool. The tournament has become the largest in Eastern Europe and one of the most important international eSports events of the year.
In a tense struggle first place was taken by Team Dignitas, who surprised mostly everyone by securing the victory over Virtus.pro in finals.
The final standings look this way:
1st place – Team Dignitas, $ 250,000
2nd place – Virtus.pro, $ 100,000
3rd and 4th place – Natus Vincere, SK Gaming $ 40,000 / $ 40,000
5 - 8th place – HellRaisers, fnatic, Ninjas in Pyjamas, G2 Esports $ 15,000
The group stage was held in one of the Moscow's five star hotels and the playoffs took place on October 22 and 23 at "VTB Ice Palace" arena. Once again, EPICENTER: Moscow organizers performed an amazing show at the opening ceremony, much appreciated by the audience.
Russia's first CS:GO world-class tournament was widely covered both in the national and foreign press. The finals were broadcasted by the federal TV channel "Match TV". Thousands of fans came to the stadium cheering for their favorite teams. 3 days prior to the games all the tickets have already been sold. Overall EPICENTER: Moscow scored more than 7 millions views in the Internet.
EPICENTER tournament series will continue in 2017.
